Mark Bohrer, Photography & Research

I have a terminal case of wanderlust. I discovered a classic Leica camera in the basement of my house when I was 13, and that inspired a life of photography and travel. I've photographed all over the U.S. Southwest, Rocky Mountain states, California's Santa Cruz and Sierra Nevada Mountains, Paris and Provence, France.

I have another admission to make: animal behavior captivates me. I first realized this in front of a bridge piling near northern California's Crowley Lake, where I watched cliff swallows build a nesting community from mud. Now I can't get enough of wild birds walking on water at takeoff, squirrels dancing, kissing and playing, young egrets demanding a meal, or bison bull-fighting.

My engineering background and experience as a creative musician and bike race photographer combine in 'peak of the action' wildlife, event and travel pictures you'll find very satisfying. I've also photographed veterinary hospitals and their doctors, food, and food processing labs.

I earned BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign, and couldn't wait to move to the mountains west of the Mississippi. I wrote music and performed in rock bands for many years on the west coast when I wasn't designing analog chips for AMD and others.

Forbes.com, Waterbrook Press/Random House, World Cup Supply, and Chick Magazine/Morrison Media have used my images, and they appear in many private collections. I've photographed and written features for Birder's World and LHSA Viewfinder.
