St. Jerome Chapel, Taos Pueblo, New Mexico

This was one of those New Mexico afternoons where the clouds paint the sky and distant scenery seems so clear you can almost reach out and touch it. Fighting destroyed the Pueblo's San Geronimo Church after the murder of U.S. Territorial Governor Charles Bent in Taos during the Mexican-American War. St. Jerome Chapel was built to replace the church in 1850. Taos citizens named Bent Street for the governor.
