Eared grebe over the shoulder, Shoreline Park, CA

Most eared grebes  leave for their summer breeding grounds in the northwestern U.S. and southern Canada by the end of March. I found one lone holdout in northern Caluifornia's Shoreline Park on San Francisco Bay.
